According to Marketplace Pulse research, Walmart has doubled in size in 18 months, reaching 100,000 active sellers. In the past year, 10,000 to 20,000 new sellers joined Walmart every month, and on average at least 10% were eventually approved by Walmart and became active. Walmart sells more than 400 million products on Walmart.com, and because the product catalog is so broad and there are already many sellers on the platform, future growth will not come from adding more sellers. In other words, doubling the market size and number of SKUs will not result in a doubling of GMV.
